Meet The Midwife
My name is Jenny Zaner. I am a licensed Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) who serves Southeast Michigan. My story began in 2004 when I gave birth to our oldest son at home with the presence of a midwife. I was able to catch my own baby, peacefully with love in a birthing tub. The birth of my son was also the awakening of my new found passion... Birth!
I was filled with excitement, passion, and a desire to share all of the new information that I had learned.
A few short years later, my professional journey into birth work began. I became a Birth Doula who specialized in natural birth, taught private childbirth education classes, and started working my way through a 3.5 year home birth midwifery apprenticeship. During my career, I have trained and worked with many different midwives in Michigan.
I am forever grateful for all of the midwives and clients who have all taught me so much along the way.
I have been a primary practicing midwife for over 14 years. In December of 2022, I opened a free standing birthing center in Clinton Township, Michigan. The birthing center is designed to feel like home. This is the perfect option for families that do not desire home birth, but would like to have a midwifery led out of hospital delivery that feels like it.
I believe and trust in birth as a normal physiological process in which both mother and baby are simultaneously working together. They are both sharing in the birthing experience. I believe that care during this intimate time in a family's life should be tailored to their individual specific desires and needs. I believe that every birth, regardless of location, should be a family centered birth. I look forward to working with you through your journey of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.
I have attended over 480 births.
Jenny sat on the Board of the Michigan Midwives Association from 2016 to 2019

While rare, there may be times when your primary midwife provides solo care due to multiple births in progress or assistant availability.
It’s Your Birth maintains strong collaborative relationships with other licensed midwifery practices in the community. This shared backup system ensures that every family has continuous, professional support - no matter when labor begins.
Doula Team Support
We offer both Solo Doula and Team Doula options to best meet your family’s needs.
Solo Doula
Rebekah
Doula Team
Mary and Hollie
Solo Doula Model
Work one-on-one with a dedicated doula who will be by your side throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. In the rare event that backup support is needed, another IYB doula will step in seamlessly to ensure continuous care.
Team Doula Model
What’s better than one doula? Two!
Our team doulas share a call schedule and back one another as needed. Both doulas attend your prenatal appointments so you can get to know each of them before your birth. The doula who attends your labor will be determined by the on-call schedule at the time of delivery.
At It’s Your Birth Midwifery, we strongly encourage all clients to include a doula as part of their birth team.
First-time natural birthing families are required to hire a doula.
Doulas provide early labor phone and text support, then join in person during early active labor—offering continuous guidance and allowing the midwife team to arrive rested, focused, and ready for active labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care.

Hi there! I’m Camelia Ferman. Ever since I was five years old, I have known that I wanted to become a midwife. Growing up, I would eagerly beg the women in my circle to tell me about their births- most of which were at home.
Fast forward to 2026 and here I am… as a student midwife! I have been working with Jenny for 3 years and have attended over 200 births. I recently graduated from the Midwifery program at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in December 2025. I plan to sit for the NARM exam and become a licensed practicing midwife in early 2026 and will be staying with It's Your Birth as an associate midwife.
I value faith, family and freedom and because of that, I believe that birth matters. The choices you make surrounding pregnancy and birth set the tone for you baby’s life. Holistic, informed care surrounding pregnancy and birth is essential for healthy families.
I greatly respect the physiological process between mom and baby and am filled with love for your family as it grows. I look forward to walking along side you during this special time.

Meet the Doula
My name is Mary. I am a seasoned birth doula with a practice of over 18 years. My passion for birth started 30+ years ago during my own experience of becoming a mother. At that time it became very clear that there was a lack of support in the field and a deep need for more education and advocacy around birth. My heart and soul work in the world has truly become supporting mothers in bringing new life earthside. From hopeful mom to expectant mom to birthing mom and beyond, I love to help women feel empowered and in control of their birthing experience.
I am also a wife of 20 plus years, mother of 3 and nana to 5 grandbabies.
I look forward to working with you! ❤️
